I am like the 99% of people in the world who never win anything. But, this time I actually won a prize. I guess the saying "You can't win if you don't play" is true.
Back in February I received an email from Mazerati. It was an announcement of a campaign called "This is how I Maserati". It was easy to enter, just click a link. And the qualifications were pretty simple "Tell us your Maserati story". So, I did. The registration page said they would be drawing a name and giving away a prize each week.
A few weeks later I received another email. This time from Jim Ellis Maserati of Atlanta and it said I had won a prize. In fact I was the first prize winner in the contest. They gave me a link to the Maserati catalogue. OOooh La La were those items amazing. But...they also gave me a limit.
I searched that catalogue about 10 times trying to find something that I really loved that fit into the budget they gave me. I had no luck. That's because I had already seen the gift I wanted and nothing else would compare. So, I emailed them back and told them my dilemma. I offered to pay the extra money to cover the total price of the gift I really wanted. To my surprise they said, "No need, we will give you the gift you want. What is it?"
OK, I won't keep you in suspense. Click the link below to view my unveiling of the Maserati prize I won. Thanks Jim Ellis Maserati!
The Secret Word is "Secret"
Holidays are a great time to experiment with fashion. It’s the Fourth of July wear stars, wear stripes, wear red, white and blue, heck wear a costume if you want but, whatever you wear do not break the bank when you buy it. Here’s how I find great style at great prices.
First, I do my research by finding the styles that I love. I attend fashion events, peruse fashion magazines, view the social media pages of undiscovered designers and well known fashion houses. I also check out blog posts of other fashion and style bloggers. When I find styles that I love, I look for those styles at lower prices. This is the easy part.
Stores like Target and Wal-Mart partner with well-known designers to create bridge lines, also known as diffusion lines. These are secondary lines of merchandise created by high-end fashion houses or designers that retail at lower prices. Bridge lines are usually slightly different from the designer’s signature line but, the difference in price is remarkable for the value you recieve.
I shop at discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom’s Rack, Saks Off Fifth and Neiman’s Last Call. At these store you will find the authentic high-end and couture designs at deeply discounted prices. I also look at online boutiques. Some of my favorites are Naked Wardrobe, House of CB and Ricki Brazil. Here is where the real fashionista will find great basic pieces in all the colors of the season.
Those are my secrets. Oh and if you want to win the beautiful skirt in the photo above just follow our Instagram page, tag a friend and comment with the secret word. If you didn’t already find the secret word above it’s “Secret”.
As always, thanks for reading. Comment on this post and let me know where you find your favorite styles at great prices.
